Dark Green

The 1st cord. When a student earns this they have had their Batizado and receive their apelido (nickname). A student must train 1-6 months to earn this cord.

Light Green and Yellow

The 2nd cord. A student must train 6 months as a 1st cord to test for the 2nd cord.

Dark Green and Yellow

The 3rd cord. A student must train 6 months as a 2nd cord to test for the 3rd cord.

Light Green and Light Blue

The 4th cord. A student must train for 6 months as a 3rd cord to test for the 4th cord.

Dark Green and Dark Blue

The 5th cord. A student must train for 6 months as a 4th cord to test for the 5th cord.

Yellow

The 6th cord. A student must train for 1 year as a 5th cord to test for the 6th cord. At this level, more responsibility is required of the student. 

Light Blue and Yellow

The 7th cord. A student must train for 1 year as a 6th cord to test for the 7th cord. At this level, the student should be traveling regularly to events to broaden their knowledge. Students at this level should also be assisting with kid's classes in order to learn the kid's curriculum.

Aluno Graduado: Dark Blue and Yellow

The 8th cord. Students must train for 1 year as a 7th cord to test for the 8th cord. At this level, the student is a graduated student. Students at this level should assist in teaching adult classes in order to learn the adult curriculum. A Graduated Student is very important to the group. Since this level is the first level where a title is used, students at this level are expected to be responsible, loyal to the group and able to teach and help with the growth and development of the group. Students at this level may teach classes with supervision of a Monitor or above.

Aluno Graduado: Light Blue

The 9th cord. Students must train for 2.5 years as an 8th cord to test for the 9th cord. This is the last student level cord. As such, during this time, the student should focus on not only developing their own Capoeira, but should also focus on developing themselves personally and as an instructor. By this stage, the student should be able to run a roda, teach any classes as needed, should be loyal to the group and have developed friendships with the leadership of the group, etc. 

Monitor: Dark Blue

The 10th cord. Students must train for 2.5 years as a 9th cord to test for the 10th cord. At this level, the student graduates. As a Monitor, this individual should be teaching classes and working to develop their student base. 

Professor: Blue / Green / Yellow

At this level, The Professor should be traveling regularly to develop their Capoeira and to make a name for themselves in the Capoeira world. Professors work with The Mestres to develop and grow the group. One should train 3-5 years as a Monitor to test for Professor.

Mestrando: Blue / Green / Yellow / White

Mestrando literally means "mastering." At this level, The Mestrando is the right hand of the Mestres.  A Mestrando should continue traveling and developing both their Capoeira as well as their students. This is the phase where one prepares to become a Mestre.

Mestre 1st Degree: Green and White

A Mestre of Capoeira is one that is recognized as such by the Capoeira community. One must train at least 20 years to achieve this level. In CapuraGinga, a Mestre must also be at least 27 years old.

Mestre 2nd Degree: Yellow and White

A 2nd Degree Mestre must remain on the 1st Degree for 10 years and must be at least 37 years old.

Mestre 3rd Degree: Blue and White

A 3rd Degree Mestre must remain on the 2nd Degree for 10 years and be at least 47 years old.

Grão Mestre: White

After a lifetime of training and teaching Capoeira, The Mestre finally reaches the highest level.  The Grand Master requires 50 years of training Capoeira. In order to achieve this level, a 3rd Degree Mestre must hold that rank for 10 years and be at least 57 years old.
